"a Graver Tool Rest for the metal lathe" -in steel and industrial phenolic
This accessory is my version of a Graver Tool Rest design typically associated with small watchmakers lathes. This accessory allows for freehand machining upon a metal lathe, a task normally impossible upon an Engine Lathe.
It was designed to fit my Southbend 9 metal lathe. A sliding wedge-lock keeps the base securely anchored to the bed, yet it can be loosened quickly for repositioning when needed. The single Allen bolt tightens up the wedge-lock as well as the sliding toolpost position. A lock collar retains the position of the toolrest itself.
